Austen’s vision for this Foundation was always been based in the belief that any fighter is stronger when there is a greater number standing beside them. We have striven to enact that truth in every aspect of our work here, including building community and strength around our own organization.
On January 9th, the Austen Everett Foundation hosted our second annual Kids Cancer Outreach Forum. In an effort to increase awareness and share resources, AEF invited a dozen childhood cancer support organizations to our office for a casual meeting of minds. The focus of the annual gathering is to introduce key staff at each organization, relay their mission and priorities, share new programs, or give information about upcoming opportunities to support each other’s efforts, as well as ensure that all the families we serve are aware of everything that is available to them.
Our coalition includes hyper-local organizations, as well a national giants. We are proud to have hosted Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Camp Agape, Cancer Pathways, Side by Side, The Goodtimes Project, Footprints of Fight, Make A Wish and Soulumination. Being surrounded by so many people, each dedicated to fighting childhood cancer, in so many different but effective ways, left us all with a renewed sense of dedication and a bright outlook on the great work together we will accomplish in 2019.
