50-50 for Austen

Updated: Aug 8, 2019

On July 29, 2019 Austen Everett Foundation partnered with Bruno B. Art Collectif to put on 50-50 for Austen, a fundraiser for AEF. At the event at Lagunitas, 50 skateboards were turned into art by 50 artists.

The night also featured surf band, the Earthlings Smokehouse Lightning BBQ, beer from Lagunitas Taproom, and a raffle with a Mervin Manufacturing Snowboard.

100% of beer proceeds as well as sales from the skateboards went to AEF to fund the Honorary Team Captain Program. Within the program, kids battling cancer are the Captains for a dedicated event with their favorite local athletic team. Former Captain Jazzy was in attendance and spoke to the crowd of the impact her HTC experience had on her cancer battle.

Walking through Lagunitas on the night, the space was filled with AEF captain memorabilia, reminding the guests the impact their contributions were making on brave kids battling cancer. Artists, local residents, AEF volunteers, and friends and families crowded the space and board sales soared at 6:30pm to take home the unique skateboards morphed into art pieces.

Speaking about the mix of Bruno B. Art Collectif works and AEF, AEF board member Lauren commented, “it’s amazing to see the giving that people will do for these brave kids. Artists from Seattle and beyond dedicated their time and craft to make this event happen. It’s great to see how many people showed up to grab a beer, some BBQ, and appreciate art and AEF.”

50-50 for Austen is the first of many with Bruno B. Art Collectif and the other partners. We extend a huge thank you to evo for donating the skateboards turned into art, Lagunitas, Mervin Manufacturing, and Bruno B. Art Collectif. Together we are empowering kids battling cancer.
